The Croydon Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Support Group  is a registered charity based in Croydon, London in the county of Surrey. Our members include individuals affected with Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia, their families, carers, supporters and professionals. The main aim of our efforts is to help improve the quality of life for affected individuals, their families and carers.  We also promote awareness of sickle cell and thalassaemia in the community.  There are a number of fundraising events to raise funds for our activities with both the young and older affected individuals.

Table Top Sale!!

The Table Top Sale last Saturday on the went well. Thanks for the support!! Don't forget the next support group meeting is on the 11th September.

We normally meet on the second Saturday of the month at the Croydon Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre and these meetings are open to all.  We usually have a speaker or someone who we think has the knowledge and/or experience that would be useful to the attendees.  We have a code of practice that allows the meetings to be open and fair.

As I Rise To The Stars

As I rise to the stars where I belong,
I go through the improbably black hole.
As I rise to the stars where I belong,
I see the moon with Neil Armstrong’s footsteps
 And the American flag

As I rise to the stars where I belong,
I see all the stars and the biggest star of all,
The babbling hot sun.

As I rise to the stars where I belong,
I see all the planets, Mars, Venus, Earth, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Neptune
And last but not least, Pluto.

As I rise to the stars where I belong,
I bounce about space with no gravity to pull me down.
As I rise to the stars where I belong,
I come out of the dark, dark, impenetrable black hole,
Floating around in the spooky air.

As I rise to the stars where I belong,
I make my way back to Earth, it’s boiling hot
But it’s the middle of winter.
There’s definitely something wrong.
I take off all my layers and drop them in the snow.
